Alphawest goes to market with unique approach to security

  • 08 November, 2005 14:15

<p>Alphawest Services announced it has re-engineered its national security practice and branded it SmartSecure in response to strong market demand for superior services and access to key national resources. Alphawest has created the Alphawest Security Council, to provide a national focussed approach to give customers with access to high level expertise, proven security solutions and strategic key vendors.
“Security is not something companies should trust to the lowest bidder. The Alphawest national security practice, SmartSecure, sends a clear and concise message to the market that Alphawest is serious about building focussed solutions and offering consistent services to its clients. We can offer all our customers access to the top security experts and solutions across Australia,” said Ed Jeffers, National Manager – Infrastructure, Alphawest.
The Alphawest Security Council is made up of Alphawest’s top security consultants and engineers in each state bringing together over 100 years of experience and skills across a variety of certifications including CISSP1, CCSA2, CCSP3, GSEC4 and CCSE5.
Based on customer feedback following an extensive review process, Alphawest has focused its new SmartSecure offering in the following strategic areas:
• Network Security
• Application Security
• Malicious Code
• Content Security
• Enterprise Management
• Identity and Access Management
• Emerging Technologies
Alphawest has also refined its delivery methodology to six steps to ensure uniform processes across the company:
1. Assess
2. Plan
3. Develop
4. Implement
5. Manage
6. Review
These streamlined processes will ensure that a holistic view of a company’s security is considered and deliver an improved longer-term return on investment for customers.
Whilst Alphawest works with a range of security vendors its key strategic partners are Cisco Systems, Check Point, RSA Security and Trend Micro.
"Cisco is pleased that Alphawest is aligning its security practice around Cisco's Self-Defending Network architecture. In particular, we see the value that Alphawest brings to our customers is its lifecycle services that range from planning end-to-end security infrastructure through to full operation," said Kevin Bloch, Regional Manager, Advanced Technologies &amp; New Markets, Cisco Systems Australia.
Chris Wood, Alliance/Channel Manager of RSA Security said, "This is an innovation long overdue in the Australian market. Alphawest's formation of a Security Council and its nationally focussed approach will allow the consistent delivery of robust, proven security solutions to customers wherever they may be. As one of Alphawest's top four partners, RSA Security is delighted to be associated with this initiative and further extend the reach of our market-leading identity and access management solutions."
“Alphawest is a key Trend Micro partner and important to our local business so, we are very excited by the opportunity to become a top tier partner. I believe it's a solid spring board into greater opportunity and profitability for both companies," said Chris Poulos, Managing Director Australia/New Zealand.
Scott McKinnel, Country Manager, Check Point said, “Alphawest has been one of Check Point's key partners in Australia for over 8 years now. With the consolidation of Alphawest's key vendors within their security practice, Alphawest will be even better placed to deliver Check Point's industry leading technology to the Australian market.”
“This is our most significant national commitment to date and one that will be followed by several of our other business practices that further demonstrates our strength as a national IT Services provider," said Garry Henley, Chief Executive Officer, Alphawest.
SmartSecure is a part of the infrastructure line of business within Alphawest and is further complemented by Systems, Storage and Communications.
