Now playing: Quickflix streaming to iPads and iPhones

Stream movies and TV to your iPad or iPhone over 3G

Quickflix users can now stream movies and TV shows directly to their Apple devices with the launch of dedicated apps for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

The Quickflix WatchNow app opens up the company’s library of movies and TV shows to iOS; the service is already available to PC and Mac users through a Web browser, as well as most new Samsung, Panasonic, Sony TVs and Blu-ray players.

The WatchNow app will work over a mobile 3G connection as well as Wi-Fi; A Quickflix spokesperson told GoodGearGuide that streaming video quality would depend on the connection, saying 'WiFi typically provides a consistent bit rate for the user. 3G is network dependent, and fluctuations may impact continuity on occasion."

iPad and iPhone streaming will run in standard definition. Quickflix does offer HD movies to some devices like Smart TVs and games consoles.

Movies and TV shows from Quickflix’s ‘Latest’ and ‘Featured’ categories are available through the app, and users can search by genre, title, actor, director or TV series. Parental controls can also be set to restrict movie access.

Quickflix is a subscription service — as well as offering postal DVD and Blu-ray titles, subscribers can stream video for an additional monthly fee. A flat-rate streaming-only subscription offers unlimited movies and TV shows for $14.99 per month.

Although Quickflix's Web and Smart TV services also allow individual pay-per-view movie downloads without a subscription, the WatchNow iOS apps will not — the streaming mobile service is for monthly subscribers only.

Users without a Quickflix subscription can also use the WatchNow app for movie trailers, Hollywood gossip news and videos.
