iOS 6 already gets jailbreak treatment, not ready for public beta just yet

It's only been available for developers for a day, but the latest iOS software instalment is already jailbroken.

This probably comes as no surprise to most of you, but less than 24 hours after its announcement at Apple's WWDC event, iOS 6 is already jailbroken--with interesting results.

MuscleNerd, a member of the iPhone Dev Blog team, created a tethered jailbreak of the new iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch software, as demonstrated on his Twitter account. However, while MuscleNerd is having relative success in creating the hack, he also stresses that it's nowhere near ready for a public beta just yet. For starters, some features don't work with the jailbreak just yet, and it also breaks Cydia, which is pretty important for those looking to easily jailbreak their phone. You can check out his progress from a file on his website.

While MuscleNerd and other developers smooth out the kinks, it's encouraging to see the (fast!) progress. At least what we do know is the first beta of the hack will probably be tethered, and naturally will use Cydia to jailbreak your iGadget quicker.

MuscleNerd also hinted that there is a possiblity those with a jailbroken iPhone 3GS will be able to use full GPS features again, thanks to the new Maps app in iOS 6. Of course, this is speculative due to the new software being able to run on the 2009 model.

iOS 6, announced at the annual WWDC conference, not only drops Google Maps and replaces it with Apple's own navigation system, but also boasts features such as Facebook intergration, more Siri capabilities and video chat over both WiFi and 3G.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
