Staff of group communications company Thinkfuse join Salesforce

Thinkfuse will cease operations and service on July 25

The team at Thinkfuse, a software-as-a-service provider focused on helping groups manage communications, has joined Salesforce.com, and the company will stop operations next month, an executive of the Seattle, Washington, startup said Monday.

It is not clear whether Salesforce.com will be offering the technology and the service from Thinkfuse to its own customers. The terms of the deal were also not disclosed.

"We can confirm that the Thinkfuse team has joined salesforce.com. We are not commenting beyond that," Salesforce.com said in a statement.

Thinkfuse, founded in August, 2010, has been offering a platform for team leaders, project managers and executives to manage group communications such as status reports and project updates.

"Today, we are excited to share that the Thinkfuse team will be joining salesforce.com, where we'll advance our mission to promote open communication and transparency in the workplace," CEO Aydin Ghajar wrote in a blog post.

Ghajar advised users to download their data no later than July 25, as the company will cease operations and service on that day, and all customer data will be subsequently deleted.

"We started Thinkfuse with a simple idea to help teams communicate more effectively," Ghajar said. "We now have an amazing opportunity to pursue that passion on a much larger scale at salesforce.com -- one of the leading companies in the space." Ghajar did not provide details on what the team would be working on.

A number of large tech companies have acquired smaller companies recently more for their staff than their products or customer base. Facebook for example acquired earlier this year the team at webcam eye-tracking startup GazeHawk, but not its product and technology.

Salesforce.com has been on an acquisition spree. It said earlier this month it was acquiring social media marketing firm Buddy Media in a US$689 million cash and stock deal, as it expands its social media offering for businesses. Buddy Media delivers targeted marketing content through Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube.

The staff at ChoicePass, a Web company that offers services for providing employees with perks and discounts at local businesses, said this month it was joining Salesforce.com.
