The Huawei Honor, as advertised on the Dick Smith website.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has today announced the launch of its latest mid-range Android phone, the Huawei Honor, but you'll only be able to buy it through Dick Smith retail stores.
The Huawei Honour is available from today for $299 outright and will exclusively be sold through Dick Smith. However, the device won't be sold on a contract plan through traditional carriers like Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.
The Honour has a relatively large 4in screen, but Huawei says its key feature is a 1900mAh "ultra-long" battery that should last over a full day. The company claims it is the largest battery capacity among smartphones in the 4in screen range.
"The Huawei Honor features simple-to-use, advanced technology that allows people to share and connect easily, a great user experience that is enhanced by its ultra-long battery life," said Huawei Device Australia's head of marketing, Mark Treadwell. "Huawei smartphones are constantly challenging what’s possible in the market, giving consumers choice, great quality and value."
The Huawei Honor is powered by a 1.4GHz single-core processor, has 512MB of RAM and is just 10.9mm thick. The device has an 8-megapixel rear camera that doubles as a 720p video recorder and comes with a front facing VGA camera that allows it to make video calls and use third-party video applications.
The 4in TFT display is larger than many other phones in the Honor's price range. It has a resolution of 480x854, which gives it a relatively impressive pixels per inch rating of 245ppi.
The Honor comes with the 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich version of Google's Android platform with Huawei's UI overlay on top. The company has not confirmed whether the Honor will receive a software update to the latest version of Android, 4.1 Jelly Bean.
The Huawei Honor is available now, outright and unlocked, through Dick Smith stores for $299.
