Audio accessories company Jabra has today announced that its durable Solemate portable Bluetooth speaker will be available in Australia next month.

The Jabra Solemate is a shock, dust, sweat and splash resistant portable Bluetooth speaker. With a width of just 64mm, the company says the Solemate's size and weight is comparable to a 500ml bottle of water.

"The Jabra Solemate is built to travel, so users can enjoy music in places they may normally not like to take their technology, such as the beach, being around food and drinks or in their gym bag," said Jabra’s regional sales manager, Karen Powell. "It also comes with a specially designed, durable sound bag."

The Solemate includes a standard 3.5mm audio jack in addition to Bluetooth connectivity.

The Jabra Solemate allows up to eight Bluetooth devices to be connected to it including smartphones, tablets and Bluetooth equipped portable music players. It also features a standard 3.5mm audio cable connection for non Bluetooth devices.

Jabra says the Solemate's internal battery will last for up to eight hours of continuous play back before needing a recharge. A built-in speakerphone function means the device can be used to handle voice calls if connected to a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone or smartphone.

The Solemate will go on sale from Monday 1 October through JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and Telstra stores across the country for $199.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
