Apple activates Genius Recommendations in iOS 6 as its final release approaches

The iOS App Store is getting a major makeover in iOS 6, and Apple appears to be making the finishing touches

Apple has switched on Genius Recommendations for developers testing the redesigned iOS 6 App Store, indicating that the upcoming mobile operating system's final release is imminent.

Apple updated the iOS 6 App Store on Friday, revealing a Chomp-like makeover to the search results layout. With the update came the introduction of the Genius button, but the recommendation service wasn't fully activated at the time.

Now, Apple has made some additional changes to the App Store, revealing that the Genius feature is now functional, and has also undergone a redesign. Users are now greeted by swipeable cards that display the recommended apps' icon, star rating, price, and a screenshot of the app, as well as a 'Not Interested' button and an indication of what app from the users purchase history the recommendation is based on.

In iOS 5, the Categories button was in the place of the new Genius button that has emerged in iOS 6's beta. Now, categories are integrated into search results in a drop down menu that's located in the top left corner of the screen.

It is expected that Apple will release iOS 6 with its sixth generation iPhone, which could be unveiled on 12 September.

The HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile Printer is a great device that fits perfectly into my fast paced and mobile lifestyle. My first impression of the printer itself was how incredibly compact and sleek the device was.

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.
