Nearly 40 per cent of consumers will buy iPhone 5 no matter what features it has

Our survey reveals that 10 per cent of consumers will only buy the iPhone 5 if it has a bigger display

Almost 40 per cent of Macworld readers are planning to buy the iPhone 5 when it launches, no matter what new features the sixth-generation device has.

A Macworld poll of 1402 respondents found that 36.9 per cent of consumers will be hoping to get their hands on the new iPhone, whatever it's like when it's unveiled at a special event, which is expected to take place on 12 September.

An additional 9.8 per cent said that they will be buying the iPhone 5 if it has a bigger display. It has been predicted that Apple will introduce a taller display that could be up to 4 inches and allow 24 icons to be displayed on the home screen with it's next iPhone.

Just 1.9 per cent said that they will only be buying the iPhone 5 if it has a thinner profile. It has been reported that the iPhone 5 could be 18 per cent thinner than the iPhone 4S, at just 7.6mm thick.

A total of 3.5 per cent of respondents would be put off by a smaller dock connector, which looks likely to be making an appearance in the new iPhone. The dock connector might mean that older third-party accessories will be incompatible with the iPhone 5, but it's thought that Apple will provide some sort of adapter to solve that problem.

Macworld forum member fonejacker said that he'll be buying two iPhones when it launches. "The dock doesn't bother me as it will be our first iPhone. We have been waiting for the right one," he wrote. "We weren't happy with the iPhone 4S, but were intending to buy it before it was announced. I do want a bigger screen, 4in would be perfect, so fingers crossed, the new iPhone will tick all the boxes, credit card at the ready."

Of the 1402 respondents, 22.4 per cent said that they are happy with their current iPhone, and another 22.4 per cent said that they don't want to buy an iPhone at all.

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.
