Intel wants you for the Ultrabook Convertible Challenge

Design your own Franken-device, win a free ASUS Taichi Ultrabook

Chip-making giant Intel has announced today’s launch of its Convertible Challenge — calling for Australians to suggest two ordinary household items that, when combined, would be extraordinary. It’s doing this to promote the Intel Ultrabook Convertible concept, which brings together elements of a tablet and a laptop for a more flexible and portable design.

Running with The Good Guys as an official partner, Intel wants you to submit suggestions to its or The Good Guys’ Facebook pages, asking a simple question: what are two things that you’d like to see put together?

Intel’s got a few suggestions of its own to get you started — hot tub pants, a t-shirt tent, and a boom-box fridge. To enter, Intel has a Facebook app that lets you name two items, and then put together a quick explanation why they would be great together. There’s an Inspiration button that automatically generates a breakthrough idea.

If you’ve got the best idea, as selected by Intel, the company will bring your idea into reality and create your Frankenstein's appliance, as well as sending a free ASUS Taichi 21 convertible Ultrabook your way.

There’s more prizes besides, including three runner-up prizes decided by the voting public, and weekly and daily winners. Various convertible Ultrabooks like Samsung’s XE7000 and Toshiba’s U920 are up for grabs.
