Two Aussie teams selected for Call of Duty Championship finals

Teams in training mode as they get ready to head over to LA

Eight Australian players have been selected for the finals of the Call of Duty Black Ops II finals to be held in the US.

Following eight hours of gameplay against 32 other opponents, Team Immunity and Mindfreak eSports were declared the top A/NZ Call of Duty teams.

The two teams are currently in the final stages of preparation before they head off to LA to take on the world’s best competitors at the Hollywood Palladium Theatre on April 5-7.

Team Immunity team captain, Albert Nassif, said it was a “great feeling” to grab the local Call of Duty title.

“We can’t wait to go to Hollywood and play for the big bucks against the world’s best,” he said.

Activision Asia Pacific senior vice president, Philip Earl, said the tournament was a great way to give back to the loyal Call of Duty community.

“The response to the Call of Duty Championships is evidence of the franchise’s strong following down under,” he said.

“The successful launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops II last year showed the continued strength of the Call of Duty franchise locally.”

The two Australian teams will take part in the global finals for a share of the $1 million dollar prize pool.
