EA releases Battlefield 4 gameplay video

Highly anticipated shooter gets revealed in a comprehensive gameplay video

EA has a released a comprehensive video showcasing the gameplay of its latest war shooter, Battlefield 4.

The 17 minute gameplay demo depicts the player, Recker, opening his eyes to discover that he is trapped in a rapidly sinking car with three of his squad mates.

Shooting the window is the only way to escape and recover the intel, but if Recker does there is the risk that not everyone will survive.

EA Games Label executive vice president, Patrick Soderlund, said the demo was “just the beginning” and the publisher has “so much more in store.”

“To be this early in development, and to already be so polished is a huge achievement for the DICE team and reflection of their passion and commitment to driving the franchise forward,” he said.

Soderlund adds it was “thrilling” to see peoples’ reaction when they came into contact with the game for the first time.

“It really makes you realize that we are at the beginning of a whole new era for gaming,” he said.

“As artists and craftspeople, we are focused on creating a dynamic, open design that brings people together with amazing, surprising unscripted moments that they’ll talk about for days.”

Pegged for a spring 2013, Battlefield 4 is developed by DICE using the proprietary Frostbite 3 engine.

The single player aspect of the game will allow players to experience large environments, access to numerous vehicles and the ability to direct squad mates.

Borrowing from the social aspect of multiplayer gaming, the single player mode will now also track players’ progress.
