It's Spotify's first birthday tomorrow — the incredibly popular music streaming service, which boasts millions of tracks and thousands of albums from mainstream and independent artists, has been around in Australia for a year as of the 22nd of May.
To celebrate, the folks at Spotify's Australian office have released some stats about its first year of operation. 42.5 million hours of music streamed, 14 million playlists created — and that's in Australia alone.
Some other interesting tid-bits: electronic artist Flume, known mainly for Holdin On from his self-titled debut from 2012, is the most popular local act, while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis snagged the top spot courtesy of Thrift Shop and the The Heist album.
Of Monsters And Men's Little Talks is the number one most-listened track, though, and their My Head Is An Animal album is also the most popular, beating Alt-J and Ed Sheeran.

Spotify has also used the opportunity to announce Spotify Charts, a service that updates weekly with the most-streamed or most-shared tracks on Spotify.
As an example, this week has been big for Daft Punk after the drop of Random Access Memories, while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis stay strong. Here's the most-streamed chart for Australia this week:
