Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8in and 10.1in get Intel chips

Samsung opts for Intel over ARM for Galaxy Tab 3 tablets

Samsung has unveiled two more Galaxy Tab 3 tablets, this time with Intel Atom processors.

After announcing the 7in Galaxy Tab 3, Samsung has now taken the wraps off its Galaxy Tab 3 8in and Galaxy Tab 3 10.1in. They are the first of Samsung's Android tablets to feature Intel Atom processors.

Samsung said: "In order to meet the demand from our vendor/carrier partners and provide a consistent high-quality experience for customers, Samsung has sourced components, including chipsets, from trusted partners."

What we do know is that each model will arrive globally in June. In the UK they will be available 'later this year'. There will be 4G LTE, 3G and Wi-Fi only versions but which ones we'll be getting is yet to be confirmed.

The Galaxy Tab 3 8in has a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1280x800 (189ppi) display, 1.5GB of RAM, a 5Mp rear camera and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. As usual, there is a microSD card slot for expansion - up to 64GB cards.

Samsung says its: "is the optimal device for viewing videos, playing enhanced games, and reading e-Books anytime, anywhere."

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1in features a marginally faster 1.6GHz dual-core processor, the same 1280x800 resolution (149ppi) and 16GB or 32GB of storage. However, it only has 1GB of RAM and a 3Mp rear facing camera.

According to Samsung, it's built to be the 'best 10-inch tablet on the market.

As usual there is no pricing information yet so stick with us and we'll let you know as soon as we find out.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
