Nokia is expected to unveil a new Windows Phone with a 41-megapixel camera next week, after it published a teaser for its upcoming New York event.

The new handset is codenamed "EOS" and is widely expected to be the first Windows Phone device to feature a 41-megapixel PureView camera. The media event is scheduled for Thursday, 11 July.

Nokia sent out official invitations to the New York event earlier this month but posted a teaser on its Conversations blog overnight using the tagline "41 million reasons", the same amount of megapixels in a PureView camera.

Nokia first debuted its PureView technology early last year on the 808 PureView, one of the last smartphones to run Nokia's Symbian operating system.

The PureView technology on the 808 uses what's called oversampling to combine up to seven pixels into one "pure" pixel when taking typical sized shots (5-megapixels).

Nokia says this eliminates the visual noise found on other mobile phone cameras while at the same time allowing you to zoom in up to three times without losing any detail. The company says the imaging technology on the 808 PureView took over five years to develop.

Leaked images of the rumoured Nokia EOS smartphone were published earlier this month by US site GSMArena. The photos revealed a device with a Xenon flash, OLED display, polycarbonate body, and 32GB of internal memory.

If you can afford the price tag, it is well worth the money. It out performs any other laptop I have tried for gaming, and the transportable design and incredible display also make it ideal for work.
