LaCie ships next-gen monitors

LaCie Group SA Monday introduced its next generation 22-inch electron22blue IV CRT display.

The product has been designed to deliver "the most clear and accurate colour possible in any lighting condition, during any time of day".

The monitor offers a 20-inch viewable area, and is equipped with wide-viewing-angle technology, which LaCie claims lets users see accurate colour from "virtually any angle without image distortion".

Screen resolution is 2,048-x-1,536 pixels. The monitor also uses a new electron gun, which improves picture sharpness, laCie claims. The monitor also features a new super-bright mode developed with video and games applications in mind.

LaCie's UK general manager George Leptos observed: "Our latest CRTs reflect significant improvements in clarity compared to earlier generation CRT monitors."

LaCie's electron22blue IV monitor costs £629 and ships with a VGA-to-VGA cable and the company's traditional blue hood, which reduces glare and unwanted reflection. The naturally-flat CRT is equipped with a built-in four-port USB hub. Australian pricing is still to be annouced.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
