FileMaker Names Simon Thornhill Vice President of Engineering

<p>SYDNEY, Australia – December 21, 2004 – FileMaker, maker of the #1-selling easy-to-use database software, today announced the appointment of Simon Thornhill as the company’s vice president of Engineering. In his new role, Thornhill, a veteran of twenty years in the software industry, will focus on setting company-wide database software technology directions.</p>
<p>While at Borland Software Corporation for the past 12 years, Thornhill served as vice president and general manager for the .NET group, and as vice president and general manager for the RAD group. He was also director of development for Borland’s Windows product group.</p>
<p>Thornhill has also led software teams at Ashton-Tate as International R&amp;D Manager in England and at Lotus Development Corporation, Cambridge, Mass. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Lancaster, England.</p>
<p>“With the recent successful introduction of the new FileMaker 7 product line, this is an exciting time for Simon to lead the FileMaker Engineering team,” said Steve McManus, General Manager Asia Pacific, FileMaker, Inc. “With a strong understanding of the needs of today’s knowledge worker, Simon is keenly equipped to lead the next generation of FileMaker software development,” he added.</p>
