<p>Sydney, Australia – December 16, 2004 - Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADPT), a global leader in storage solutions, today announced a new 1.6TB version of the Snap Server 4500 – one of the company’s top-selling storage systems for small/medium businesses (SMBs), remote offices, and departments. The Snap Server 4500 combines network-attached storage (NAS) and IP Storage Area Network (IP SAN) functionality in a single, and easy-to-deploy and maintain, platform that is now available with improved performance and best-in-class storage capacity.</p>
<p>The Snap Server 4500 is available today starting at an Australian RRP price of $A8999 for the 1TB configuration and $A11599 for the new 1.6 TB configuration. It offers best in class storage expandability, 60 percent more than its closest major competitor, and can scale up to 3.6 TB through the addition of up to two Snap Disk 10 expansion arrays. The Snap Server 4500 comes with integrated, best-of-breed software including NetVault backup software from Bakbone, anti-virus, snapshot, and centralised management software. The Instant Capacity Expansion (I.C.E.) software feature allows customers to dynamically increase the size of data volumes without interrupting user’s access to the Snap Server 4500. Also available for the Snap Server 4500 is the new Snap EDR or S2S software for advanced data protection, consolidation, distribution, and replication.</p>
