Qantas passengers will now be able to do their own check in for themselves and their baggage, and even allocate their own seat.
The introduction of a new computer system in August will allow passengers to check in at Sydney and Melbourne airports in less than a minute -- which will make up for the time spent dismantling laptops as part of new security procedures.
The airline's executive sales and marketing general manager John Borghetti said the QuickCheck kiosks - A state-of-the-art fully computerised machine -- was an Australian first and very easy-to-use.
"Customers will be able to use QuickCheck to check in, view a map of the aircraft seating and select a seat," he said speaking at the Australian Tourism Exchange in Brisbane.
Qantas customer service representatives will be on hand to assist customers with the new check-in system.
