Logitech's Case+Drive magnetically mounts your iPhone in the car

Case+Drive accessory is a magnetic car cradle for the iPhone 5s

Logitech has announced a new iPhone 5s case under the Case+ brand, which will work with a number of optional magnetic mounting accessories.

The Logitech Case+Drive accessory will retail for $69.95.
The Logitech Case+Drive accessory will retail for $69.95.

The two part Case+ system consists of a snap-on iPhone 5s case constructed from brushed metal and polycarbonate plastic.

The metal plate on the back of the case has been designed to work with the +Drive accessory, a windshield and dashboard suction car mount.

The Case+Drive accessory ($69.95) has two advantages over regular smartphone car docks. Because the system uses magnets, it reduces the bulk you normally see on other car cradles and mounts.

Secondly, the magnets mean that it's one of the easiest cradles you'll ever use. It has a simple flip-up lid on the top that hides a twist lever that's used to securely hold the mount in place.

In addition to mounting on a car window, Logitech also claims the suction mount will stick to any non-porous, flat surface.

Once attached in your car, the iPhone can be magnetically mounted to the +Drive system in both portrait and landscape orientations.

The Case+Drive system looks like a particularly good solution for drivers in NSW, Australia, where it's against the law to use your phone in the car, even as a navigation device, unless it's mounted.

Unfortunately, the Case+Drive accessory is limited to working with the iPhone 5s at this stage, though Logitech says it is planning to release the case for a range of other smartphones in 2014.

The Logitech Case+Drive will be available in Australia in "late November".
