Aldi Mobile removes "unlimited" pre-paid plan

Low cost MVNO Aldi Mobile is no longer offering an "unlimited" pre-paid plan

Low cost MVNO Aldi Mobile is no longer offering an "unlimited" pre-paid plan, less than a month after it halved the original monthly data allowance on the plan from 5GB to 2.5GB.

The $35 bolt-on plan remains the same price, but has been renamed to "Aldi Mobile $35 plan", rather than unlimited.

It now includes up to 2500 minutes of voice calls, up to 2000 SMS messages, and up to 500 MMS messages per month. The 2.5GB data limit remains intact, though that was cut from 5GB in October.

Aldi Mobile's two pay as you go plans, $15 and $30, along with its $15, 2GB data-only plan for tablet devices both remain without any changes.

The removal of the unlimited plan comes just three months after the MVNO struck a deal directly with Telstra wholesale, following the collapse of original wholesale provider ispONE.

ispONE entered voluntary administration in August, effectively cancelling its contract to provide 3G mobile services to both Aldi Mobile and Kogan Mobile, the latter of which was forced to shut down as a result.

ispONE was one of the largest wholesale mobile providers in Australia and had been a customer of Telstra Wholesale for mobile products, as well as a broadband and a "relatively small number of fixed line voice products."

Aldi Mobile first launched in Australia back in March.
