Partitioning is possibly the best way to organise data on your PC, allowing you to divide your hard drive into manageable sections for convenience. Partitioning can prevent conflicts, protect data and increase efficiency, among other benefits. Many software packages are available that handle this task and one well-known product is PartitionMagic. Just before we went to press with this issue, Powerquest launched a new version - PartitionMagic 8.0.
New features in the latest release include larger partition support, a file browser that allows users to modify and move files from one partition to another and ‘hot' enlarging of NTFS partitions - no rebooting required. New wizards have been included for creating backups and installing secondary operating systems to help new users overcome their fears of partitioning. Another benefit is the new interface: the GUI has been redesigned to give a Windows XP look and feel.
PartitionMagic 8.0 supports Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, 2000 and XP.
