Corel Australia has announced it has slashed the prices of its WordPerfect Office 2002 upgrades by up to 68 per cent.
The standard version upgrade/crossgrade previously costing $399 has been slashed to just $129 while the upgrade/crossgrade of the professional version now costs $199. Originally the professional version was priced at $569. Crossgrade in this case refers to when customers change from an existing office suite, such as Microsoft Office or Sun’s StarOffice, to Corel’s WordPerfect Office 2002 suite.
Corel’s Marketing Manager Julianne Bean claims that the reason for the price drop “is due to customers seeking a competitive prices”.
However, there are no plans to extend these price cuts to the full versions due to the fact “most people have an office suite of some kind,” said Bean.
Continual market feedback has been the basis of these changes and if that feedback remains positive regarding the Office suite price drops then Corel may “emulate” this strategy to other products in its software suites, said Bean.
The price cuts will be effective from 1 December, 2002. For more information on the WordPerfect Suite go to wordperfect.com
