321 Studios Looks to Hill & Knowlton for Asia-Pacific Promotion

Hill & Knowlton Australia adds to its advanced technology portfolio with the forward-thinking provider of DVD backup and recovery software, 321 Studios

Sydney, 1 October 2003 – 321 Studios today announced its entry into the Asia-Pacific regional marketplace with the support of the full-service public affairs and public relations company, Hill & Knowlton. The appointment of Hill & Knowlton marks 321 Studios’ first attempt to actively promote its range of DVD backup, repair and recovery software to Asia-Pacific consumers.

“The decision to go with Hill & Knowlton in Asia-Pacific made eminent sense given we already use Hill & Knowlton in the US and Europe,” said Rob Semaan, the Sydney-born and raised CEO of 321 Studio. “Hill & Knowlton can integrate its technology public relations practice with all the tools necessary for issues management worldwide. This was simply the best decision for our business.”

The 321 Studios team at Hill & Knowlton will be lead by Australian technology practice director Myrna Van Pelt in tandem with recently appointed associate director Steven Noble.

“The customer’s right to protect their investment in DVD movies and CD music through backup and recovery tools is being legally challenged worldwide, making 321 Studios an extraordinary addition to our portfolio,” said Myrna Van Pelt. “Rob Semaan’s vision for balanced copyright law is truly commendable – our challenge will be to assist him in showing the immense benefits that DVD backup and recovery software has for the average consumer.”

321 Studios’ DVD X Copy series software allows consumers to protect their investment in DVD movies by creating backup copies for personal use. The company’s products and policies include strong measures to guard against illegitimate use, including a unique, non-visible watermark in all DVD copies, a block on high-volume copying, a block on copying any disc other than an original, and a rewards program for information leading to the conviction of pirates. As litigation against software innovators continues on a global scale, 321 Studios will strengthen its battle for the public’s right to make “fair use” copies of their digital media using DVD backup and recovery software.

Hill & Knowlton Australia offers strategic communications counsel and support in the areas of Health, Technology & New Media, Marketing Communications, Public Affairs and Crisis and Issues Management.

It’s easy to set up, it’s compact and quiet when printing and to top if off, the print quality is excellent. This is hands down the best printer I’ve used for printing labels.
