Toshiba DVD means never missing that show again

Don't you just wish you could do your Christmas shopping in Tokyo? They have all the best gadgets in Japan from sophisticated in-car computers to robot guard dinosaurs. And now Toshiba has come out with something else for us to covet -- a DVD player with a built-in 160GB hard drive.

The RD-X3 can record up to 208 hours of programs so you never need miss your favourite soap again. The built-in DVD-RAM/R drive means you can capture 12 hours of footage to a double-sided 9.4GB DVD-RAM disk as well.

But the best bit is that even if you have forgotten to programme it to record EastEnders, you can set it remotely via email or a mobile phone. It is perfect for when you are away on holiday or business as it can be set up to record 32 different programmes up to two months in advance.

It has a built-in ethernet terminal, which means it can be hooked into a LAN (local area network) to receive commands via a mobile phone or email from a computer. You can also use your home PC to create titles and images to add to a DVD-R disc on the player.

The RD-X3 is priced ¥200,000 (£1,020), but sadly Toshiba has no plans to launch it overseas yet. But where Japan leads the rest of the world will surely follow, and at least that means we can start saving up for it now.

I’d recommend a Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 and the new Windows 10 to anyone who needs to get serious work done (before you kick back on your couch with your favourite Netflix show.)

MSI GT75 TITAN

I need power and lots of it. As a Front End Web developer anything less just won’t cut it which is why the MSI GT75 is an outstanding laptop for me. It’s a sleek and futuristic looking, high quality, beast that has a touch of sci-fi flare about it.

MSI GS65 Stealth Thin

If you can afford the price tag, it is well worth the money. It out performs any other laptop I have tried for gaming, and the transportable design and incredible display also make it ideal for work.
