Optus' exclusive LG F70 offers 4G for sub-$300

Fast Internet, four processing cores and a 5MP camera.

Optus has signed yet another smartphone exclusively with the LG F70 following the carrier’s recent deal with HTC.

Optus is offering the Android LG F70 on its $35 Optus My Play on a 24 month contract, or outright for $264. The outright price is more expensive than LG’s recommended retail price of $199, and positions the smartphone against the widely praised Motorola Moto G.

The F70 runs Android 4.4 KitKat overlaid with LG’s custom skin. The 4.5-inche IPS screen has a resolution of 480x800 and a density of 207 pixels-per-inch (ppi). Motorola’s Moto G fares better with its 326ppi and its cheaper $249 recommended retail price.

Inside the F70 has a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Support for microSD storage is a borderline need when you consider only 1.5GB of memory is available for use out of the box. LG claims the F70’s humble hardware will be compatible with a 32GB microSD card.

The low-end smartphone has a 5MP rear camera capable of recording video in Full HD, and a front VGA camera.

The F70 redeems itself with a strong connectivity repertoire, which includes 4G internet, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and NFC.

The LG F70 is available now from Optus stores, alongside the HTC Desire 816, which Optus also signed exclusively.

I’d recommend a Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 and the new Windows 10 to anyone who needs to get serious work done (before you kick back on your couch with your favourite Netflix show.)

MSI GT75 TITAN

I need power and lots of it. As a Front End Web developer anything less just won’t cut it which is why the MSI GT75 is an outstanding laptop for me. It’s a sleek and futuristic looking, high quality, beast that has a touch of sci-fi flare about it.

MSI GS65 Stealth Thin

If you can afford the price tag, it is well worth the money. It out performs any other laptop I have tried for gaming, and the transportable design and incredible display also make it ideal for work.
