Heavy revisions have been made to Optus’ insurance offering with the telco charging a flat $13 per month for all types of smartphones and tablets.
Feedback from customers prompted Optus to simplify its insurance offering, said Ben White, the vice president of Optus’ mobile marketing, in a statement.
“Customers told us that our previous insurance policies were complex and didn’t cover what they needed. In fact, the old plans had 42 different excess claim types,” said White.
There’s no limit to the number of claims that can be processed. Replacement smartphones and tablets will be issued “within 1-2 business days”.
People who have accidentally damaged their handset will have to pay an excess of $50, while insurance customers who have had their smartphones stolen will be charged $150.
Optus is only offering its yes cover insurance at the point of sale. Takers can cancel at any time, and those that do so within the first 19 days won't be charged.
