Like Note 4 and Note Edge, Samsung delays Gear VR

Postponed for a release some time in 2015

Samsung Australia has postponed the release of its Gear VR in what is the third delay for its range of Galaxy Note devices.

Samsung initially pledged the Gear VR — an accessory that transforms its Note 4 into a virtual reality headset — would go on sale in November. The company has since revised the on sale date with the following statement:

“Samsung Electronics Australia wishes to advise that the Gear VR on-sale date has been revised to early 2015. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Samsung Australia representatives did not provide Good Gear Guide with an explanation for the delay.

This is the third item under the Galaxy Note banner to be delayed by Samsung. Both the Note 4 and the Note Edge had their initial release delayed by one week. Samsung then delayed the Note Edge a second time by an additional fortnight.

Now the Gear VR is following suit with a tardy release set for an unconfirmed date in 2015.

Samsung unveiled its Note range in Australia four days after the release of Apple’s first phablet, the iPhone 6 Plus, on 23 September. The company pushed to release its duo of Notes one month later in the hope of swaying potential customers.

Samsung announced the Gear VR will be priced at $249 at its launch event.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
