With nearly every major retail group already selling its prepaid Internet access kits, Primus Telecom has announced that it has secured space on the shelves of Dick Smith retail outlets.
Primus Telecom’s various Internet access kits will now be available at Dick Smith Electronics, Dick Smith Powerhouse and Tandy stores around Australia. Retail giants such as Coles, Myer, Harvey Norman and Grace Bros currently sell the packs.
Nevertheless, general manager of Primus Telecom Internet, Campbell Sallabank, considers the Dick Smith deal to be a trump card.
“[Dick Smith] has had good relationships with other suppliers in the past,” he said. “Its decision indicates that they are impressed with where Primus is going.”
Sallabank said the deal was nurtured through negotiations between Primus, Dick Smith and Primus’ distributor, Quadtel.
There had been a 20 per cent increase in sales of Primus pre-paid packs for the first two weeks they were on Dick Smith shelves, Sallabank said. He expected this growth to further improve in coming months.
