The Recordable DVD Council (RDVDC) aims to expand the market for recordable DVDs by introducing two measures to improve compatibility.
The first move is the creation of a 'RAM Compatible' logo that designates products capable of recording and playing back video images on DVD-RAM discs, in the Video Recording Format. This format is commonly used by computer and consumer AV devices for real-time recording, editing and playing back of audio and video.
The second initiative is the establishment of the Compatibility Working Group whose members will undertake to ensure interoperability of products using the RDVDC-supported recordable DVD formats -- DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD-R. This will be achieved by collaboration with companies creating the media as well as those developing devices to playback data stored on DVD discs.
