Pacific Internet offers unlimited data traffic

Melbourne-based Pacific Internet is offering unlimited office-to-office data traffic between business DSL connections. With no barriers or additional charges on interstate traffic, the ISP claims it is the first company to offer the service in Australia and will be targeting the SME market.

“Unlimited traffic nationally will appeal to businesses already using or considering a VPN, sharing file servers or setting up VoIP,” Pacific Internet’s product manager, Kylie Hutchison, said. “There is a growing trend towards ISP rationalisation among national businesses. With our new offering, multi-location businesses can choose Pacific Internet for their connectivity and Internet service needs.”

Pacific Internet has 182 dealer and reseller channel partners handling 30 per cent of its business, and credits them with driving need for new broadband offerings.

“We have a few customers who resell Pacific Internet as part of some kind of networking service and a strong dealer program of network consultants that have really driven the need for office-to-office traffic,” Hutchison said. The new business broadband solution offers business mail filtering at server level to protect customers against spam and viruses as well as content filtering to improve productivity.

Hutchison estimated that 20 per cent of network traffic was not related to work.

She said there was a growing trend towards staff accessing recruitment or sport sites during working hours. Pacific Internet business DSL services are backed by a 99 per cent service level guarantee to instil customer confidence.

“There have been reliability concerns with ADSL services,” explained Hutchison. “The service has improved immeasurably during the past year and rebates are payable if it goes down.”

The range of plans starts at $134 per month for a 256/64Kbps connection with an unlimited office-to-office traffic option.

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
