Motorola has announced that owners of their latest Moto smartphones will be receiving a free software upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo.
The firmware update rolled out first to the Moto X4, then to the Moto Z, Moto Z Play, Moto Z2 Play, Moto G5, Moto G5 Plus, Moto M5s, Moto G5s Plus and Moto G4 Plus.
Sony commenced a similar move back in December.
Motorola say "The new Android 8.0 Oreo OS promises to further accentuate the consumer experience and bring about noteworthy features making the device smarter, faster and more powerful."
When PCWorld reviewed the Moto X4, we came away pretty happy. We concluded that "though its perfectly servicable for the most part, the Moto X4 is defined more by the things that are absent from its feature-set rather than those that are present."
