Conflict: Desert Storm looked like it had reached the end last week, until SCi Games stepped in and saved the day.
SCi Games bought Pivotal Games, developer of the Conflict: Desert Storm series, from Kaboom Studios for £2.36 million, (US$3.92 million), SCI Games Finance Director Rob Murphy said Monday.
Kaboom Studios went into receivership at the start of September, due to problems in other parts of its business, Murphy said. SCi, based in London, completed the acquisition of Pivotal, in Bath, England, on Friday.
"We don't normally have any in-house designers, but Pivotal have done such great work for us and we want that to carry on," he said.
Pivotal, which has a staff of about 75, will continue working on current games Conflict: Desert Storm 1 and 2 and The Great Escape, and developing versions 3 and 4 of Conflict: Desert Storm, Murphy said.
Representatives of Kaboom or Pivotal were not immediately available for comment.
