Oppo have announced local pricing and availability for their latest R-series smartphones, the R15 and R15 Pro.
“The R-Series continues to deliver fantastic camera capabilities at an affordable price. We know smartphones are now our customer’s camera of choice. As such, we continue to invest in our camera technologies to provide them with an exceptional photography experience, which will have them taking shots like a pro”, said Michael Tran, Executive Director at OPPO.
Launched in China earlier this year, the Oppo R15 features a 6.28-inch OLED display with a 2280x1080 resolution, Helio P60 processor, 6GB of RAM, a 3450mAh battery plus 128GB of on-board storage and MicroSD support. Camera-wise, the R15 features a 20-megapixel f/2.0 shooter on the front and a dual lens kit on the back (16-megapixel f/1.7 + 5-megapixel f/2.2).
The R15 Pro ups the ante, boasting a ceramic back cover, slightly-faster Snapdragon 660 processor, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and an IP67-rating against water damage.
In Australia, the R15 will be priced at an RRP of $659.00 while the R15 Pro comes in at $779.00.
The new device will be available to purchase from the following retailers from July 9th JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Officeworks, RetraVision and Woolworths Mobile.
The device will also be available on plan via several carriers, including Woolworths Mobile, Optus, Telstra and Vodafone.
JB Hi-Fi are offering pre-orders from July 2nd.
There's also a limited "Bali Bundle" available for $1579 that includes the following:
- An OPPO R15 Pro
- A flight voucher and three nights stay at the ‘OPPO Private Pool Villa’ inside The Leaf Jimbaran Bali Luxurious Villa & Spa Retreat.
- A day pass to Mrs Sippy Bali.
- A GOLDUST Facial or Massage
Speaking of the bundle, Tran says that “we all know that young Aussies value travel and experiences above anything else. Despite that, there is one thing they value just as much, having the latest smartphone technology. For many, this means using that very pricey smartphone to scroll through holiday snaps on Instagram, rather than experiencing it for themselves."
“We didn’t want Aussies to be missing out on fantastic experiences and feeling travel FOMO, so we decided to give both; a cutting edge smartphone with the latest technology and a holiday to Bali.”
Back when we previewed the device in March, we said that the R15 Pro "really does feel like the major step forward for Oppo that the brand has needed for a while. It feels significant in a way that R11 and R11s didn't. We'll have to spend a bit more time with the device before we can render a verdict, but - depending on the price and the how the software experience holds up over the long haul - this may well be Oppo's most compelling handset yet."
The R15 and R15 Pro launch on July 9th. Look for our full review in the near-future.
