Microsoft teams up with Razer to bring mouse & keyboard gaming and RGB lighting to Xbox One

Microsoft has moved to add support for mouse and keyboard gaming to the Xbox One, inking a new partnership with Razer in the process.

Writing on the company's blog, "At Xbox, we’re committed to bringing gamers more choice in what they play, who they play with and how they play. We’re also equally committed to providing developers with the best platform to create and deliver the best gaming experience on Xbox."

"Today we’re announcing a new way to play games on Xbox: we’re enabling mouse and keyboard support on Xbox One for select Xbox Insiders in the coming weeks."

Microsoft have indicated that most USB-based keyboards and mice will be supported, regardless of whether they're wired or wireless. However, at this time, it looks like only Razer's hardware will offer Xbox gamers the ability to customize and synchronize your RGB lighting in the same way as PC players.

From Razer's perspective, the move is a natural extension of their ongoing efforts to move towards open RGB lighting ecosystems. At this year's Computex, Razer announced that they'd be opening up their Chroma ecosystem to third-party vendors.

Microsoft say that additional details about both mouse and keyboard support and their new partnership with Razer are due to come at the company’s next Inside Xbox stream, currently slated for November 10.
