Samsung go slimmer and sportier with new Galaxy Active smartwatch

Samsung has officially announced their next fitness-focused smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch Active.

“Consumers are increasingly putting their overall wellbeing at the center of their lifestyle decisions, and they’re looking for wearables that make it easier to get active and stay balanced every day,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics.

“Everyone has their own way of pursuing their goals. We’re thrilled to introduce our new line of wearables to fit seamlessly into your life and complement your own personal wellness journey.”

In terms of overall look and positioning, the Galaxy Watch Active very much looks to be the Gear Sport to the Galaxy Watch’s Gear S3. It’s a little slimmer, lighter and a little closer to something like the Apple Watch. The Galaxy Watch Active also breaks from the rotating bezel that’s been a highlight of previous Samsung’s smartwatches.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Watch Active features a 230mAh battery, IP68 water resistance, wireless charging, Wi-Fi & Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity and mobile payments (via Samsung Pay). It runs on an Exynos 9110 processor, 4GB of on-board storage and a Tizen-powered software interface. The Galaxy Watch Active also boasts a unique form of blood pressure tracking via a new app plus a specialised stress management app.

The one drawback here compared to the Galaxy Watch is that there's no version of the smartwatch with cellular connectivity.

Interestingly, Samsung are overhauling the software interface on the Galaxy Watch Active to mirror the new One UI software experience present in the Galaxy S10 and S10+. It is not yet clear whether Samsung Galaxy Watch owners will be getting access to the new UI via a software update.

Samsung Electronics Australia say that they’ll be bringing the Galaxy Watch Active to Australia with full local pricing and availability to be announced closer to the local launch.

It really doesn’t get more “gaming laptop” than this.

MSI GS75

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.

MSI PS63

The MSI PS63 is an amazing laptop and I would definitely consider buying one in the future.
