Digital payments provider Square has announced the release of the Square Online Store, which the company claims will provide Australian small business owners with all the tools they need to start or scale their e-commerce business.
“It’s crucial that businesses are able to reach their customers on any channel, whether in person, online or in apps,” said David Rusenko, head of eCommerce at Square.
“With the new Square Online Store, we’re excited to integrate Weebly technology and bring the Square omnichannel experience to every business, from retailers to restaurants.”
Square acquired Weebly in 2018. The Square Online Store is first Square product to be fully integrated with Weebly since then.
Interested businesses will be able to sign up on a free "starter" plan (with no monthly subscription fees) from today. According to the company, the "Square Online Store enables business owners to easily create a professional website that fits their brand to help grow their operations in person and online."
"Additionally, it enables businesses to seamlessly sync their Square data, like catalog items and inventory, with their website. Items automatically import to the website, and updates made in either Square Online Store or Square are updated in both places. Inventory also syncs automatically to ensure business owners can stay up to date and don’t have to waste time manually reconciling sales made online or in person.
Square Online Store will also offer specific functionality as it relates to restaurants, allowing businesses to offer seamless online ordering from their own website and customised pickup times across multiple locations.
Square’s Australian Country Manager Ben Pfisterer asserts that the launch of Square Online Store in Australia will significantly boost the omnichannel capabilities that the Square offers locally.
He says that the “Square Online Store is a unique eCommerce product that will make it easier than ever before for Australian businesses to start selling online, and they can now get started free."
