HP has released three new colour inkjet printers aimed at low-volume users and home offices.
The three printers are the HP Deskjet 3550 ($99), Deskjet 3650 ($149) and Deskjet 5652 ($299).
The Deskjet 3650 and 5652 come with several new features. One is an ink backup: if, during printing, the printer runs out of black ink, user are given an option to continue printing with the colour cartridge; if the colour ink runs out, it turns to the black ink but with a grey scale.
Another new feature is the print screen option. When users press 'Print Screen' on their keyboard it will allow them to "dump what is on the screen" automatically into the printer, said Guyon Collins, market development manager, personal printing, HP Australia.
The Deskjet 5652 also allows automatic double-sided printing. Once whatever it is you are printing has passed through the printer, an attachment on the printer flips the photo over (allowing for ink drying time) then passes it through again.
HP's Colourfast photo paper range, which is recommended for the printers, is priced from $16.99.
All printers are available now.
