Convenient DVD Making in the shape of a donut!

 • 22 August, 2003 14:30

KEW, Victoria ,11/8/2003— Pineapplehead Ltd. (ASX: PNH), announce the Australian release of the Dvico Fusion MPEG2, an external USB video capture device that offers video camcorder and video cassette recorder users the facility to make their own DVDs with their videos. The Fusion MPEG2 allows users to record TV or analogue video & audio into their PC ready for DVD or Video CD authoring or simply for archiving videos to DVD. It’s compact “donut” design makes it convenient to use with notebook PCs or transport from one desktop PC to another.

“With DVD players, DVD burners & DVD blank media fast replacing video cassette recorders as the choice for viewing and storing videos, the DVico Fusion MPEG2 is now satisfying the shift to storing videos onto DVD with a single function, simple-to-use product,” says Evan Kourambas, CEO of Pineapplehead.

Hardware MPEG compression in Fusion MPEG2
The DVico Fusion MPEG2 is a USB 2.0 compliant external MPEG-2 video capture device for analogue video & audio input. The unit encloses a hardware chipset that encodes analogue video into MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 files in real-time, resulting in high video compression, smaller file sizes while maintaining DVD video quality (when capturing with MPEG-2 settings). Hardware MPEG compression means it demands less CPU usage and does not require powerful systems specifications. Video encoded with Fusion MPEG2 can then be burned directly onto CD or DVD, or authored using Ulead’s DVD MovieFactory 2 and burned to disk afterwards.

Fusion MPEG2 is also portable and does not require an external power supply making it suitable for notebook PC users with USB 1.1 & 2.0 ports. Other features include “time-shifting”; which allows users to pause, rewind and replay video ‘while it is still recording’.

Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2
Included in the package is Ulead’s DVD MovieFactory 2, a DVD authoring software that lets you create menus, buttons and chapter points just like commercial DVDs. DVD MovieFactory 2 features direct capture into MPEG-2 format ready for DVD authoring, trim & remove unwanted sections from your clips, add background music or sound effects, and burn directly to CD or DVD as a video CD or DVD Video.

Pricing & Availability
The Dvico Fusion MPEG2 is shipping August 2003 and is available from any major retailer or independent computer reseller at a recommended retail price of $349 inc.GST. It is available for Windows based PCs only and comes bundled with Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 for DVD authoring & a USB cable.
