New Ricoh multifunctional meets the need for occasional colour printing

 • 11 November, 2004 10:42

New product: Aficio 2228C
RRP: $10,700 inc GST
Available: November 2004

Ricoh extends its range of award winning colour multifunctional devices (MFDs) to six models with the release of the Aficio 2228C. Committed to delivering flexible and affordable colour printing solutions, Ricoh’s latest MFD is a high-speed black and white printer with colour capability to satisfy occasional colour production needs.

While colour print production is increasingly recognised as an important tool of trade, for many businesses it remains a costly exercise, particularly if it is not used all the time. Competitively priced, the Aficio 2228C is an affordable way to integrate colour into the office.

To avoid the cost associated with staff printing all their documents in full colour, the Aficio 2228C is fitted with Ricoh’s ‘User Code Access’. This facility restricts access to network colour printing to those who need it.

Suited to medium workgroups (servicing between 20 – 30 users), the Aficio 2228C offers a fast black and white printing speed of 28 pages per minute. Colour printing is still produced at a fast 20 pages per minute.

Duplex printing does not compromise on speed with double-sided copies processed at the same rate as single sided copies – even during special and full colour jobs. In addition to boosting productivity this facility saves costs and reduces the impact on the environment by halving paper usage.

Tailored to meet the specific needs of the office, customers have the choice to configure the 2228C with scanner and fax capabilities. Optional finishers are also available and include stapling, saddle-stitched booklet making and hole punching.

To further optimise productivity, documents and faxes can be digitised and sent directly to the recipient’s PC. Using Scan to Email allows all data to be sent over the Internet or Intranet without the need for a designated server or extra software.

A total of 2000 email addresses can be stored in the system’s memory and access to existing address books is made possible with LDAP support. The 2228C also offers an excellent digital archiving solution, sending scans directly to networked files such as LaserFiche, client folders or the server.

Data storage and management is made easy with the WebImageMonitor - a web interface for monitoring and configuring the printer. It allows for better handling of documents from the desktop and can even send email notifications to alert users of low paper and toner levels.

The Aficio 2228C is available from November from $10,700 rrp (inc GST).

As the Maserati or BMW of laptops, it would fit perfectly in the hands of a professional needing firepower under the hood, sophistication and class on the surface, and gaming prowess (sports mode if you will) in between.
