Klaus Bridges IT and Business

 • 08 September, 2003 10:51

Leading managed hosting company Hostworks has appointed Klaus Bartosch to head its regional sales and marketing team.

As Sales and Marketing Director, Mr. Bartosch will concentrate on creating regional opportunities for the company to exploit a growing trend towards selective outsourcing to specialist partners.
“All the fundamentals at Hostworks are in exceptional shape,” he said. “It has a talented board, a strong management team, world class technological capabilities and it knows its focus in a market space in which it is the leader.

“Hostworks is dealing with truly interesting customers - ninemsn, Ticketek, Sony, the web services – that have us at the pointy end of their mission-critical business operations. These are real businesses that are redefining the frontier for business. That’s hugely exciting.”
Mr. Bartosch, 41, whose passions including renovating, surfing and family, began his professional life two decades ago in civil engineering, working for leading Australian architectural firms. After five years, his interests changed from construction to computers as technology was adopted by the construction industry.

Since then he has worked in businesses involved in professional services, systems integration and specialised software applications.

Mr. Bartosch said Hostworks is the leading service provider in its space. ”Within three to five years, this company will be the dominant brand in the Asia Pacific region for end-to-end hosting services,” he said.

“Hostworks is a business that's on the next wave of its development and growth. Our growth is coming from businesses that are succeeding and, in the process, discovering that managing their infrastructure is what we can do well.

“The outsourcing market is maturing with a shift from big bang outsourcing to selective sourcing. Specialist managed service providers deliver greater value for the same spend, and that’s what we do.”

About Hostworks:
Hostworks specialises in managing complex mission-critical Internet applications and websites. The company provides an end-to-end service including data centres, network, hardware, software and 24x7 management under stringent service level agreements.

Clients managed by Hostworks account for 15% of all Australian web site traffic, and over 300 e-commerce transactions per second. Microsoft relies on Hostworks to manage one of only four worldwide data centres hosting MSN ‘Tier 1’ content. Oracle Corporation also relies on Hostworks to host E-Business Suite applications and related technology for Oracle users.

Hostworks provides complex, mission-critical hosting services for clients of Optus under the Expan – Enterprise Business Hosting brand name.

Clients of Hostworks include ninemsn, AAMI, Ticketek, Austereo, Microsoft, Cisco and one of the world’s leading financial institutions.
