GLiNTECH Helps the State Library of NSW Digitise Australia’s Past

<p>-The State Library increases the availability of Australian artefacts by providing them online-</p>
<p>Leading Australian solutions development consultancy, GLiNTECH has recently won a contract with the State Library of New South Wales to provide solutions architecture, systems integration, testing and quality assurance services for phase 2 of the library’s initiative.</p>
<p>The initiative is using various vendor products to digitise its unique and significant collection items and objects including maps, manuscripts, photographic images, letters, rare books and paintings which will be stored and viewed online.</p>
<p>Through innovative technology, will allow the public to view these objects on the State Library’s website that weren’t previously easily accessible. The viewer will be taken on a journey which provides a context for the digitised images and relays their importance in shaping Australia’s history.</p>
<p>“This project is a great example of how we’re using the advances of technology to increase the availability of historic artefacts to people who might not have otherwise been able to access them” says Anthony Wang, Project Manager, GLiNTECH.</p>
<p>GLiNTECH plays a central role in the project and leverages its considerable systems integration skills and expertise in providing comprehensive consulting to the State Library. The project architecture is a complex combination of the following design requirements which need to be successfully implemented within the State Library:</p>

• Archival Collection Management
• Web Content Management
• Information Architecture
• Metadata &amp; Search
• Artefact Digitization
• Process Workflows</p>
<p>GLiNTECH’s expertise in solution architecture, systems integration, testing methodologies and quality assurance services will see the first release go 'live' in July 2007, with an extension to Phase 2 expected in the second half of 2007.</p>
<p>“We’re excited to take part in a project of this magnitude and to be able to demonstrate our outstanding project management and testing capabilities,” says Wang.</p>
<p>This is the largest ICT project the State Library is undertaking in 2007.</p>
