Multimedia device vendor Creative Labs has claimed the industry's first discount deals with music e-tailers in the growing local market for digital downloads.
Under the discount schemes, purchasers of Creative-branded players will receive additional credits from online music stores at ninemsn and mulemusic.
Creative is the only vendor in the market to have such deals with these music service providers.
The schemes vary according to online store. At ninemsn, Creative customers that spend $50 gain another $50 in credit.
Creative says the deal effectively offers customers songs at 95 cents each at ninemsn. The Creative-ninemsn promotion runs until the end of January.
Mulemusic on the other hand, offers $20 in credit to those that buy selected Creative MP3 players.
To receive the bonus credits, customers must register their details on the Creative Web site which will then direct them to the desired e-store.
In the lead-up to Christmas, Creative has also released three more music players to the local market.
The MuVo2 FM 5GB device can hold up to 2500 songs on its hard drive and will face off against Apple's iPod.
Creative's Rhomba NX, available in 128/256/512MB models, and the solid state MuVo C100 258MB will target the lower end of the market.
