PowerQuest V2i Protector 2.0 Management Console Reduces Deployment and Administration Costs of Protecting Systems

 • 25 September, 2003 14:08

Centralised console for server and desktop versions of V2i Protector 2.0 deploys client agents and configures routine backup schedules for easy system, data recovery

SYDNEY, Australia – Sept 24, 2003 – PowerQuest® Corporation, a global provider of deployment and recovery solutions, announces PowerQuest V2i Protector™ 2.0 Management Console, a centralised console for use with V2i Protector 2.0 Server Edition and V2i Protector 2.0 Desktop Edition, the latest offerings of its popular disk-based backup and disaster recovery solution for Windows® servers and desktops.

Using V2i Protector 2.0 Management Console in conjunction with V2i Protector 2.0, IT administrators can efficiently deploy V2i Protector client agents to groups of servers or workstations simultaneously without having to visit each device, reducing the time and costs associated with traditional installations. Once the agent is installed, PCs, laptops and servers are ready to be backed up and protected using V2i Protector 2.0.

The management console allows IT administrators the ability to plan and configure automated backup schedules for a defined group of servers, PCs and/or laptops. V2i Protector 2.0 Management Console deploys customised scripts that automate the functionality of V2i Protector 2.0. For example, IT managers can use V2i Protector 2.0 Management Console to quickly update the scheduled backup time for a group of machines that are located in various buildings or sites. The console can also be configured to notify administrators of backup activities via email. V2i Protector 2.0 Management Console uses a history log to ensure fast recovery of server or workstation data volumes or individual files and folders. V2i Protector 2.0 reduces the amount of time needed to create backup images, as well as to recover from a disaster, providing a complete bare-metal recovery for servers and desktops when needed. PowerQuest’s latest version can be configured to create periodic incremental backup images, ensuring that all changes to a system and its data are captured and stored without the need to re-image the entire volume. V2i Protector 2.0 virtually eliminates backup windows and improves the frequency of server and desktop backups without stopping system operations or disrupting application usage and data access by users.

Pricing and Availability
PowerQuest V2i Protector 2.0 Management Console for servers and desktops will be available in September 2003. Corporate customers can purchase PowerQuest V2i Protector 2.0 Management Console for a RRP including GST of A$89 per server and A$71 for a 10-workstation license purchase*.
