NETGEAR makes business wireless LAN and VoIP deployment easy

<p>Sydney, Australia (March 15, 2005) – NETGEAR (Nasdaq: NTGR), a leading provider of easy to use, high-performance networking products, has released a desktop networking switch with IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability, and a PoE-enabled wireless access point providing fast and easy deployment of a centrally managed wireless LAN (WLAN) or wireless VoIP solution.</p>
<p>Deployed together in a growing small business environment, the FS108P ProSafe 8 Port 10/100 Desktop Switch with 4 Port Power-Over-Ethernet and the WG102 ProSafe 802.11g Wireless Access Point, a PoE-enabled IEEE 802.11g-compliant access point supporting NETGEAR 108 Mbps mode, combine to deliver a compact and affordable WLAN solution that does not require installation of new power outlets when implementing wireless access points.</p>
<p>NETGEAR’s Prosafe 8 Port Desktop Switch with PoE (FS108P) includes:</p>
<p>·Industry-standard 802.3af power on up to four ports, making it easy to deploy PoE compliant devices such as wireless access points, Voice-over-IP (VoIP) telephones, surveillance cameras and card scanners where AC power is difficult to access;</p>
<p>·Power for up to four ProSafe Access Points (WG102) enabling the flexibility of placing these access points high on walls or in ceilings;</p>
<p>·Stand-alone network device that requires no configuration.</p>
<p>NETGEAR’s Prosafe 802.11g Wireless Access Point (WG102) includes:</p>
<p>·Support of NETGEAR 108 Mbps mode using Super G technology from Atheros;</p>
<p>·Integrated Power-over-Ethernet support;</p>
<p>·Single detachable 5dBi antenna enabling customised installs with NETGEAR cables and antennas;</p>
<p>·SNMP for management;</p>
<p>·Adjustable transmit power and repeater and bridge modes;</p>
<p>·Business-class security feature set including support for Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), 802.1x, dynamic Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) key, Wireless Distribution System (WDS), Service Set Identifier (SSID) suppression, Extensible Authentication Protocol – Transport Layer Security (EAP TLS), Tunnelled Transport Layer Security (TTLS) and Protected Extensible Authentication Protocol (PEAP).</p>
<p>The NETGEAR FS108P ProSafe 8 Port Desktop Switch and WG102 802.11g Wireless Access Point are the latest additions to NETGEAR’s smart switch range, which has already experienced great success within the Australian market. The FS108P is available at a retail price of $299 inc. GST and the WG102 is available at a retail price of $279 inc. GST from NETGEAR’s value-added resellers located throughout the country.
