NetComm ups the ante in IP camera space while broadband fuels demand

<p>SYDNEY, August 31 , 2004 – Broadband equipment specialists NetComm today unveiled the jewel in the crown of its market leading IP camera range, the NS4540 featuring Pan/ Tilt/ Zoom, CCD module for live video streaming over Ethernet and full Web-based digital server capabilities.</p>
<p>An all-weather surveillance and monitoring solution, the NS4540 is designed for a broad spectrum of applications for business and residential users, while delivering unprecedented ease of use and management.</p>
<p>Because the NS4550 operates as a self-contained Web server, tasks such as bandwidth configuration, time scheduling and image capture functions are all carried out via a standard web browser. It also features an image compression chipset which is capable of delivering standard JPEG, MJPEG and real-time video onto your network.</p>
<p>“Building on NetComm’s industry leading digital camera solutions, the NS4540 offers a level of performance and manageability which places ever more sophisticated surveillance within reach of most business and home users,” said NetComm managing director David Stewart.</p>

<p>The market for IP cameras has grown substantially over the last 18 months as advances in digital imaging and network interface solutions have established them as the preferred alternative to proprietary Closed Circuit TV ( CCTV ) systems.</p>
<p>The migration towards high-speed Internet services, such as ADSL, is adding further impetus, by placing previously expensive network performance within reach of more business and residential users. Even home users with ADSL are beginning to look at exploiting broadband speeds to build effective video security systems with little effort or cost.</p>
<p>Market analysts Frost &amp; Sullivan project that global sales of IP camera solutions will near US$800 million by next year, a ten-fold increase in just five years.</p>
<p>“Security is an ever present issue, both for business and the home, which is why we are seeing such a marked increase in demand for affordable IP camera solutions designed to interface immediately with broadband networks and standard operating systems,” Mr Stewart said.</p>
