Australian vendor to support local market interest

SYDNEY, Australia – Optima Technology Solutions (ASX:OPI), Australia’s largest computer manufacturer, has launched the first Australian-made Media Center personal computer (PC), delivering advanced computing and entertainment capabilities to home users.

Optima’s new MyPC MCE PC is powered by Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) 2005. The PC is an all-in-one digital entertainment unit, allowing users to play DVDs, share and manage digital files, watch television and listen to music, through the use of a single remote control.

As an Australian company, Optima configures its Media Center PC within the country, ensuring that it effectively meets local market interests. Flexible and robust, the new PC has been tested to function at an optimum under Australian conditions and is supported by a responsive nationwide supply and service network.

“We are excited to be working with Optima to deliver a truly innovative product to the Australian market that is locally supported,” said Danny Beck, Senior Windows Product Marketing Manager at Microsoft Australia. “Our product offerings are well matched, and we look forward to working together to revolutionise the digital home entertainment experience.”

Using Microsoft’s MCE, Optima’s latest PC features unique capabilities that allow users to watch and pause television broadcasts, compile photo albums into dynamic slideshows, and edit digital photos and video. Together, Microsoft and Optima are creating a new way for people to experience their favorite pastimes.

Comprised of leading-edge components, the Optima MyPC MCE PC is designed to support its dynamic computing and home entertainment capabilities. Intel’s latest Pentium 4 530 processor with HyperThreading and an Intel 915G Express Chipset deliver a powerful audio-visual performance via high bandwidth interfaces and flexible graphics options, while the large capacity 120GB Serial ATA (SATA) Hard Disk Drive enables transfer rates of up to 150 MB/s for improved data integrity and scalability.

Optima’s first MCE PC model is a traditional-looking PC. The company plans to soon launch a slim line model better suited to the décor of a lounge or home entertainment area.

“Optima strives to be first to market with leading-edge technologies, delivering total quality and value to our customers,” said David Choi, Retail Product Manager, Optima Technology Solutions.
“Leveraging the capabilities of our new consumer electronics position, Optima is well positioned to evolve the form factor of the current box based Media Center PC into a more compact solution that is ideal for the home market.”

The MyPC MCE PC comes with a one-year onsite warranty and is currently available for $2,599 inc GST from Optima and its nationwide dealer network.

About Optima Technology Solutions
