For Immediate Release

VERITAS Software and Partners deliver Utility.NOW

Industry leaders partner with VERITAS to bring Utility Computing to the customer

Sydney, 13 October 2004 – In concert with the successful development of its building blocks for utility computing, VERITAS Software has extended the relationships with its alliance and channel partners, to make utility computing a reality for customers today.

“Customers are looking to reduce their costs, reduce their time-to-market and deliver a true value to the business,” Archie Wilson, Regional Alliances and Channels Director for VERITAS Software Australia and New Zealand said. “We realised we had to move quickly to deliver on these needs and to support our local market. It’s an evolutionary process, but the work we have done with our alliance partners, such as Network Appliance, Sun Microsystems, Hitachi Data Systems and StorageTek, has enabled us to deliver on the market needs and deliver on them today.”

The expanded relationship VERITAS has developed with NetApp and Sun demonstrates the ongoing commitment to help customers gain control of storage complexity, improve utilisation and ensure the availability of business critical data, while leveraging the compelling price and performance benefits of its partners’ offerings.

“The VERITAS and NetApp partnership delivers immediate and real benefits to businesses looking to protect and manage their critical data more effectively. It will help businesses maintain strict information compliance standards and drive down their storage management costs,” said Simon Green, Managing Director of Network Appliance in Australia and New Zealand.

“The high level of interaction between NetApp and VERITAS at product development, sales, marketing and support levels ensures our joint customers can take full advantage of utility computing to improve their data recovery and backup performance."

Each of the partners has dedicated investments in engineering, testing and support as well as a range of marketing and sales initiatives designed to highlight the benefits of their integrated solutions and how they deliver value to customers.

“Customers want to reduce cost and complexity and leverage their data assets to gain competitive advantage,” said Dan Kieran, Storage Business Manager, Sun Microsystems. “With the collective strength of our partnership and our established track records, Sun and VERITAS are uniquely positioned to deliver customers a high-performance, scalable infrastructure. From this vantage point, we can attack cost and complexity like never before.”

Go-to-Market Channel
As part of the utility computing evolution, VERITAS has been working closely with its channel partners to educate them on the concept of utility computing and provide them with the expertise and tools to deploy the solutions within the customer base.

“Business has changed and our channel partners need to change with it to ensure they can assist our customers in configuring, installing and supporting the building blocks of VERITAS’ utility computing offering,” said Archie Wilson.

In the past six months, VERITAS has signed Elite partnership agreements with AlphaWest, Commander, Fujitsu, Volante and XSI to support its need to rapidly extend the capabilities of its partner base. The Elite partner status brings with it the highest level of commitment in resources to support VERITAS’ solutions, from the partner perspective and the most significant level of technical support, on-line tools and access to sales and marketing support from VERITAS.

“Our Elite partners aren’t just the conduit to the customer, as their role is one of an ongoing concern, providing the support and advice customers need to automate their IT to match their business needs,” said Wilson.

“We’re investing with partners who understand the alignment of IT and business and who are looking to do more than simply push a product. The result is happier customers and successful partnerships.”

It’s easy to set up, it’s compact and quiet when printing and to top if off, the print quality is excellent. This is hands down the best printer I’ve used for printing labels.

The print quality also does not disappoint, it’s clear, bold, doesn’t smudge and the text is perfectly sized.
