The new site will enable customers to check out resources such as maps, accommodation, vehicles and nightlife in various NZ ski resorts.
Co-founder of travel.com.au/ski, James Coddington, said the virtual reality site offers a new dimension to booking a holiday over the Net. "Instead of traditional two-dimensional brochure photographs, the site allows the user to 'go inside' their chosen hotel room, rental car or campervan and access a 360-degree view of the facilities before they actually book, (with) no uncertainties or misconceptions," he said.
Coddington, a former member of the New Zealand national ski team, also said the aim of the site is to create a better travel experience for passionate skiers and snowboarders.
"We chose to develop this innovative site to benefit our growing number of clients who are becoming more familiar with booking ski/board holidays online and hope that New Zealand is the first of many destinations we can offer this service for," Coddington said.
The creation of the NZ virtual site involved considerable research, including six months filming in New Zealand, the company said.
