Notebook security system

There are several things you can do to keep your notebook computer safe, from physical locks to not actually flashing it about in public in the first place. If you work with sensitive information or you're just plain careless, you could take a look at the Caveo Anti-Theft PC Card, which fits into a notebook's PC Card slot.
First you arm and disarm protection using an alphanumeric or motion password (motion detection is built-in to also detect movement/threat). You can also set the device to auto-arm when a notebook's screen saver kicks in. You'll then hear an alert tone advising that the system is armed.
When someone tries to pick up the device, they'll hear an alert tone or human voice message indicating that a loud alarm is about to go off.
Beyond this deterrent, the Caveo also offers high-level data encryption and will quickly "lock down" and turn off in an emergency. The Caveo is ideal for corporate or governmental environments with large notebook fleets or anywhere that data security is paramount. PC World Staff
