Vodafone now allows prepaid customers to access 4G

Existing prepaid customers can now access 4G, new customers from mid-November

Vodafone has announced it will allow existing prepaid customers to access its 4G network from today, before opening up the network to new prepaid customers from mid-November.

The telco announced the changes to its higher speed 4G network today. It previously only allowed postpaid customers to access the faster 4G network.

Current Vodafone pre-paid customers can access the telco's 4G network from today, though any new customers will have to wait until mid-November.

Vodafone Australia's Chief Marketing Officer, Kim Clarke, said the decision to move existing customers first is a "reward".

"We’re rewarding our existing prepaid customers by transitioning them to our superfast wide-band 4G network first. Some have been with Vodafone for many years and we want to ensure their move is a smooth one."

"We also look forward to welcoming new prepaid customers to Vodafone’s superfast 4G network next month."

Vodafone has advised that existing prepaid customers who already have a 4G smartphone may need to change the settings on their phone to enable 4G access.

As part of the prepaid 4G launch, Vodafone has also increased the data limit on its $40 prepaid plan from 750MB to 1GB, and included $750 worth of call credit value, up from $650.
